Jane Robson is an industry expert in fashion and global manufacturing – and an alumni of Manchester Met. She is particularly concerned about the environmental and social issues generated by the fashion industry, and leading in finding more sustainable approaches. Greater Manchester is, of course, the birthplace of mass textile manufacturing – and it remains the home to many “Fast Fashion” retailers which encourage throwaway consumption.
Jane argues that we are ‘overconsuming’ fashion and wasting resources – and her challenge is therefore how can we encourage fashion industries and consumers to behave in more sustainable ways. You could consider this from many perspectives whether that be through production models, customers buying habits, educating on the issue, awareness raising and so on.
